Helping Children Become Confident, Capable Readers
I’m Dawn Jagannath, a Reading Specialist with over 20 years of experience in literacy instruction. I specialize in Evidence-Based Literacy Instruction (EBLI), a speech-to-print approach that aligns with how the brain processes language.
My work focuses on building strong, lasting foundations in reading, writing, and spelling through individualized, targeted support.
I am also pursuing my Ed.D. in the Science of Learning at Gordon College, specializing in language and literacy, further deepening my expertise in how children learn best.
Who I Help
I work with students of all ages, from early elementary through middle and high school, who need support in reading, writing, and spelling.
I also work with adults who are looking to strengthen their literacy skills and build confidence in reading.
Many of the students I work with:
‘Are below grade level in reading
Struggle to read accurately or fluently
Struggle with spelling and writing
Feel frustrated, overwhelmed, or lack confidence
Have not made expected progress with traditional instruction
Have not responded to previous interventions
Why My Approach is Different
Traditional reading instruction often asks students to memorize rules or follow rigid, step-by-step programs that do not always align with how the brain processes language.
My instruction is grounded in Evidence-Based Literacy Instruction (EBLI), a speech-to-print approach that starts with spoken language and connects it directly to reading and writing. By helping students understand the structure of language, EBLI makes literacy more clear, logical, and meaningful.
Instead of depending on memorization, students learn skills they can apply across reading, writing, and spelling with greater accuracy, confidence, and independence.
Not sure where to begin? Most families start with a Targeted Literacy Evaluation to gain a clear understanding of their child’s reading.
